Consent Tracker Report · July 2026

What ad-trackers load before — and after — you choose

For each site we open the homepage in a real in-market browser, count the advertising and tracking hosts that fire before any consent choice, then click Accept and Reject and re-count. Pre-consent tracking and whether "reject" is actually honoured — measured, not assumed.

8 EU news sites tested · real in-market browser (Accept vs Reject) · refreshed monthly
theguardian.com loads 30 ad-trackers before you choose — down to 19 on Accept, and 0 if you Reject. elmundo.es does the opposite: more trackers after Reject (8) than Accept (5).

Advertising and tracking hosts = ad servers, SSPs/DSPs, tag managers, consent tools and tracking pixels observed on the public homepage via an automated in-market browser. Counts are host-level and reflect a single measured render; a site's live behaviour can vary by region and session. For the ad-carbon of these sites, see the Ad-Carbon Intensity index.
